Braided delicacy from the Danish kitchen

Everyone looks forward to family time at Christmas. After a hearty lunch and perhaps a little nap, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and home-baked cookies will soon spread throughout the house – it’s coffee time!

Would you like to surprise your family with something new for Advent coffee? Then try your hand at Danish Christmas bread.

Here you can find a delicious recipe:

200 ml of milkwarm up and with
50 g yeaststir
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom,
1/2 teaspoon salt,
2 tbsp sugar and
1 egg

add and stir well
75 g butter in 225 g flourcrumble and add to the yeast mixture
225 grams of flourAdd to the dough and knead for at least five minutes
doughLet rest for 45 minutes
75 g butter and
90 g of sugar

Mix to a soft cream
doughRoll out into a rectangle (30x40cm)
mixed cream and
150 g DEN GAMLE FABRIK jam (strawberry or raspberry)

Spread on the rolled out dough
100 g grated marzipan pastesprinkle over it

Now roll the long side of the rectangle into a roulade. Divide the roll into three parts, but so that one end stays together! Braid the cut pieces into a “braid” and place this on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

Brush the braid with egg or milk and let it rise in the oven for 45 minutes.

Then bake the bread at 180 ° C for about 25 minutes.

If necessary, the bread can be frozen!
